.As a result of continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Procurement – Foodservice to join the Channel Island Sales leadership team. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for providing direction and leadership to all activity related Procurement.

About the Job: This job suits a Senior Buyer wishing to make the next step. You will work at a strategic level with senior stakeholders to present the Procurement Team for Food Service as a progressive and responsive group who work collaboratively, provide new thinking and positively influence system improvement and efficiency, working closely with and influencing both operational and sales team primarily focusing on hospitality sector, facilities management, corporate and government sectors. The applicant must be a strong leader who encourages their team to fulfil their potential through upskilling, enriching and augmenting responsibility.

Job Purpose: The primary purpose of this role is to assume overall control and responsibility for the procurement functions of the Food Service offering of the Company including responsibility for profit achieved through buying activities and supplier rebates, procurement team management and stock throughput KPIs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Role Specific:

Procurement

  • Develop a centralised procurement program that adds value to the organisation and aligns with the Fox Trading Board objectives.
  • Oversee supplier contract evaluation, negotiation and administration.
  • Review, analyse and control buying group and rebate incentives for effective profit contribution.
  • Investigate and propose new sources of supply ensuring cost, reliability and ethics meet with Fox Trading Board policy.
  • Monitor legislative change for potential future impact on product / category supply and markets.
  • Support the Sales and Marketing teams with category reviews, pricing and sales presentation materials.
  • Provide integrated assistance in the tender process of specific large Customer contracts as assigned by the MD / Board.
  • Liaise closely with Sales and Marketing to ensure products / categories are sold within acceptable time frames.
  • Liaise closely with Operations regarding efficient and effective stock management in relation to replenishment, write offs and optimum stock holding.
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments.
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure effective financial controls are embedded in procurement processes.
  • Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and the wider organisation, as necessary.
  • Develop, communicate, and administer procurement team performance and development plans and appraisals.
  • Manage allocation of subject matter expertise across all categories within Procurement Department, including mitigation of key man dependencies.
  • Development of a succession plan for the procurement department.

 

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Take responsibility for forecasting and budget holding of Rebate and buying group incentives.
  • Take joint responsibility with the FD regarding forecasting and budget holding of:  Department Staff (staff cost, head count and productivity)
  • Prepare analysis of slow-moving stock holdings and stock provision values, including comparison to prior periods and commentary on movement.
  • Provide periodic reporting on performance and progress of KPIs.

  • Enforce the Company’s Health and Safety rules and regulations and security standards.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing and updating the Company’s standard operating practices and risk assessments.

 

Personal Competencies:

  • Certified CIPS Professional Qualification
  • Education to at least A Level or Degree level.
  • Extensive experience in procurement, sourcing and negotiating with suppliers within a commercial industry.
  • Continual improvement mindset
  • Ability to work to and deliver within tight deadlines in a high pressured, fast paced and ever-changing commercial environment.

Technical Competencies:

  • Solid analytical and computer skills
  • Experience using financial, data analytics and inventory software
  • Familiarity with Power BI
